Take Five with Allie Bradley
Posted on December 7th, 2011 by Scott
We’re back in the interview groove again and we’re taking five minutes to put five questions to the lovely Allie Bradley.
Who is Allie Bradley?
I am a singer sonwriter from the sticks! I lived in Belfast for six years (studying and working full time as an account manager) but have recently moved back to Maghera since going full time with my music. The studio I record in and my management is based here so it makes more sense but I’m still in Belfast quite a lot. I have been singing most of my life but have really started to develop my own songwriting in the last two years. I’ve recorded 2 EPs, toured the UK and Ireland and also worked closely with Aaron Shanley on his records and as a backing vocalist. At the minute I’m working on new material, recording and co-writing with other people hoping to release a new record in the new year.

What have you been upto since we played football at Pigstock Festival?
Football at Sunflower you mean haha? [EDIT: It was a long, long weekend with plenty of err... music! - Scott] That was a great day’s craic, though that Chris Jackson is a hallion on the field, he should have been disqualified! The summer was great for me. I played four festivals, Glasgowbury, Sunflower Fest, Hilden and another one in the Republic of Ireland called Le Cheile. It was a great experience. Since then I’ve released my latest EP ‘Flashbacks & Reruns’ and also made a video for my track ‘Bad’ which was directed by the amazing BigBad Llama who have been a great support to me. My first video for ‘Sincerity’ which was directed by Darren lee was nominated for best female at the IMTV awards so I got to go to Dublin last week for the awards ceremony. We didn’t win. We lost out to Lisa Hannigan but to be in same category was unreal in itself! I also went on tour with label mates Kiernan McMullan and Aaron Shanley and played dates in the UK and Ireland. That was a lot of fun. In between I’ve basically just been gigging, writing, recording, adjusting to life as a full time musician and of course generally having the craic with my mates.
Why do you think it’s important for artists like yourself to use the likes of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter well?
I use all the social networking sites to promote my music. Without these I’m not exactly sure how artists would go about getting their music heard and letting people know when they are gigging. I always direct people to my Facebook or YouTube so that they can hear more about what I’m up to. Its a great way of getting new fans too!
Where can we hear more of your tunes?
You can check out my music on soundcloud.com/allie-bradley, facebook.com/alliebrads or check YouTube for lots of videos of live performances.
When can the people of Northern Ireland and beyond next see you live?
I am playing a home gig on Saturday 10th December at one of my favourite venues in the country; The Cellar Bar in Draperstown. It’s a headline show and there is amazing support from Sons of Caliber, Pretty Child Backfire (acoustic) and Kris Platt. In the new year I am planning an Irish Tour for Feb/March so keep your eyes peeled.
