Hillsborough Oyster Festival

DJ Terri Hooley joins a host of talent at Auntie's Social Club this Saturday to wrap up proceedings at the 2016 Hillsborough International Oyster Festival.

Ever get bored with the same old gigs in the same old venues? Are you one of those people who likes to reminisce about the old days? Well, good news for you if you’re around Hillsborough, Co. Down this weekend.

It’s the annual International Oyster Festival, which means excellent seafood, great drinks, friendly faces and fantastic tunes against a backdrop of rolling hills and stunning scenery.

On Saturday 3rd September, we’ll be taking ourselves down to Auntie’s Social Club and you should join us. It’s the official after-party of the festival and sees te legendary Auntie’s guys take over The Plough Inn and the newly opened Vintage Rooms.

There’ll be DJ sets from Alister Beverley and “Godfather of punk” Terri Hooley. Don’t worry if punk isn’t your thing. You’ll hear all sorts of classic old tunes in a throwback to the great social club settings of the 60s and 70s.

The house band features Gerry Norman of A Plastic Rose, Aidy Dunlop of Nasa Assassin, Nathan Connolly of Snow Patrol and Rab Bennett of Co.UK. There’ll also be a guest appearance from Jai McConnell of TV’s The Voice.

The house band are known as The Hallions. If you’re not from Northern Ireland, let’s just say you can expect to party, dance and be swigging craft beers until the wee small hours.

So yeah, Saturday night, 8.30pm, The Plough Inn, Hillsborough. Put on your red shoes and dance the blues!
