Open House Festival returns for 2017
August 2017 sees the return of Open House Festival Bangor. The month-long festival features local talent, local food, and drink, and works with local businesses. As always, the Bangor, Co. Down folks feature alongside an eclectic international lineup.
The team behind Open House Festival Bangor will launch the event tomorrow. Get down to Bangor seafront on Saturday 27th May from 4pm to 10pm. There will be street food, a pop-up pub, and music from the Open House Festival Choir.
2017 is the fifth year of Open House Festival running events in the seaside town of Bangor. With 141 events, 42 venues, and 31 days, it’s the team’s most ambitious programme to date.
More than 40 of our music events feature artists from Northern Ireland, and we estimate around 300 local musicians will be involved throughout the month. When you add in local visual artists, authors, actors, chefs and others, we’re talking more than 400 people who live and work in Northern Ireland contributing to the delivery of this year’s festival.
Kieran Gilmore – Festival Director.
The international acts this year hail from USA, New Zealand, Canada, and across the UK and Ireland. Courtney Marie Andrews makes a festival debut after wowing audiences of ‘Later With Jools Holland’.
At Folk and Tumble, we’re most excited by the return of the country-blues juggernaut of Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band.
If you can’t make the launch tomorrow, be sure to check out the programme online. There’s much more than music on offer including film, comedy, theatre and a special festival beer.
