Barbara Dickson Irish Tour 2015

Multi-million selling recording artist and Olivier Award winning actress Barbara Dickson embarks on a nine date Irish tour in November 2015 – which includes four dates in Northern Ireland.

Barbara Dickson is one the most successful recording artists of recent times. It is a career that has seen her achieve six platinum, eleven gold, seven silver albums and two Olivier awards for her work in the theatre. She is delighted to be touring Ireland with her talented keyboard player and vocalist Nick Holland.

The show features an eclectic mix of musical moods from classic singer-songwriter material, traditional music and some of Barbara’s greatest hits including ‘Another Suitcase In Another Hall’ and ‘The Caravan Song’.

Barbara will also feature songs from her most recent album ‘To Each and Everyone: The Songs of Gerry Rafferty and Winter’.

Ahead of the tour we caught up with Barbara’s special guest on the tour and old Folk and Tumble friend, Anthony Toner and asked him what it meant to him to be joining the tour.

The first, short run of dates with Barbara came out of the blue last year from David Hull Promotions, and to be honest I didn’t know what to expect when I showed up for the first gig. Barbara has had two or three phases to her career – starting on the folk circuit, then full-on Top of the Pops success (I loved the ‘January February’ phase) and then a series of stage musical successes. And in her shows, she does it all – from ‘The Trees They Do Grow High’ right through. She turned out to be a very warm person, a total professional, a great conversationalist and very good company – she has some great stories, and her voice is as good as it ever was.

For me, I’m actually looking forward to being in her company again for a couple of weeks. And it’s a chance to connect with venues and audiences that don’t know my music, so it’s good to break new ground. It’s a real feather in my cap that someone with a career like Barbara’s admires my material, and would have me back a second time.
And let’s be honest, it’s also nice to be properly on the road for a string of dates, playing to people who haven’t heard me before.
