Neil Young Announces first Belfast Concert

Americana superstar Neil Young announces dates for his upcoming tour including a historic first ever show in Belfast. Tickets for the SSE Arena gig on sale soon.

Neil Young and Promise of the Real will play The SSE Arena, Belfast on 7th of June as part of the Rebel Content Tour and the event will make history as this will be Young’s first ever Belfast concert.

During 2015, Promise Of The Real featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah became Neil Young’s backing band on his 36th studio album ‘The Monsanto Years’ and its accompanying tour. The US tour split over 2 legs in July and October garnered rave reviews not just for the length of the shows themselves – many 3 hours or longer – but also for the many rarities that appeared during the set list with a total of 565 songs played across the 23 Shows with some tracks being performed for the first time in over 40 years.

Writing on Facebook at the end of the first leg of the tour, Neil Young posted:

Thanks to Promise of the Real for making this tour such a wonderful experience in my life. I love all the bands I have played with, but this band (and the multi generational thing) is epic! The Rebel Content Tour was an experience I will never forget. Once in a lifetime. The guys, Lukas, Micah, Corey, Tony and Tato are the greatest! Amazing how easy and natural it was to rock on the old songs and the brand new ones – from ‘Cortez’ to ‘Big Box’, from ‘Wolf Moon’ to ‘Out On The Weekend’.

Tickets go on sale Friday 18 December at 9am from Ticketmaster and all usual outlets.
