News from Sunflowerfest

As the curtain falls on Sunflowerfest 2014, we call into the party to have a pint and a chat with the organisers who bring news of big changes on Tubby's Farm.

Last Saturday night saw us catching up with old friends at the Sunflowerfest after party in the Pavilion Bar. Along with several pints of the black stuff we were treated to some cracking live music from The Barley Mob, The Twisted Sisters and Villanova Junction along with stage invasions and table dancing. In truth the wonderful all inclusive festival spirit that Sunflowerfest has came to town for the evening.

The party was organised to applaud success of the fifth annual festival at Tubby’s Farm which finally saw the efforts and hard work of the organisers Michael and Vanessa McGowan pay off.

For those of you who don’t know about Sunflowerfest you’re missing out on one of the best home grown music festivals that Northern Ireland has to offer. We’ve been there since the start and were gutted that other commitments kept us away this year, but the good news is that the dates for Sunflowerfest 2015 were announced at the party and we don’t have to wait quite so long now until next year’s festival.

Traditionally the festival has been held mid to late August which puts it in competition with several other music festivals, so next year it’s moving forward to the end of July.

We think this is a good move as the music scene in Northern Ireland, albeit with one major exception takes a traditional summer break. The new dates are 31st July to 2nd August 2015 and early bird tickets will be on sale soon.
