Now best known for his regular radio work presenting for the BBC, Ricky Ross is still making solo albums and touring. Later this month he brings his latest tour to Belfast.
Ricky Ross formed Deacon Blue over 30 years ago, and 2017 saw the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album, ‘Raintown’. A string of best-sellers followed it: ‘When the World Knows Your Name’, ‘Fellow Hoodlums’, ‘Whatever You Say, Say Nothing’ and a double-platinum compilation ‘Our Town – The Greatest Hits’ which included ‘Real Gone Kid’, ‘Fergus Sings the Blues’, ‘Dignity’, ‘Wages Day’, ‘Twist and Shout’, and many others.
Since 1996 Ross has also developed a successful and critically acclaimed solo career along side occasional re-unions with his Deacon Blue bandmates and recently released his eighth solo album, ‘Short Stories Vol. 2’. Ross will bring the current tour to end with three Irish dates including an intimate show at Belfast’s Fitzroy Presbyterian Church on 25th November.
Hannah White will be joining Ross for all three Irish dates. Read Folk and Tumble’s review of her most recent release, ‘Hannah White and the Nordic Connections’
