Eastside Arts has just announced the Northern Ireland premier of the newly released Taste documentary ‘What’s Going On: Live at The Isle of Wight 1970’ at The Strand Arts Centre on the 3rd December 2015.
The film itself captures the raw energy of the power trio which included Belfast musicians Ritchie McCracken on bass guitar and John Wilson on drums alongside blues legend Rory Gallagher. Unbeknown to the thousands of adoring fans in attendance at the time was the back stage decision taken before the show to split the band and this performance was among the very last of their short-lived career with only two more shows completed to fulfil contractual obligations.
Intertwined with the wonderful live footage are contributions by Bob Geldof, Brian May and the Edge.
This very special screening also features a question and answer session with Donal Gallagher, who was Rory’s brother and tour manager throughout his illustrious career. Since Rory’s untimely death Donal has worked tirelessly on the back catalogue bringing out rare live shows and re-masters of existing ones, ensuring that his music lives on for existing fans and bringing new converts to his music.
We can assure fans and music lovers alike that this is a historic moment captured on film and this promises to not only be a unique night for Rory Gallagher fans but will also offer the opportunity to discuss the film afterwards with Donal Gallagher who will answer questions after the screening.
Tickets are on sale now via Eastside Arts.
