British Country duo Ward Thomas have added a Belfast date to their current tour schedule.
Still on a high from winning UK Album of the Year at the British Country Music Awards with their debut album ‘From Where We Stand’, the band are about to release their much-anticipated follow-up ‘Cartwheels’ in September.
Speaking about the new album, band member Lizzy ward said:
It established our new sound. Lyrically, it was much more grown-up than anything on our debut. Sonically, it was a move away from country to lots of other influences we grew up with – Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, KT Tunstall, Taylor Swift’s Red album. We’re still influenced by country, we still adore the Dixie Chicks and Kacey Musgraves, but this isn’t just a country album.
With recording and producing credits on the new album shared between Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall and Shawn Mendes) and Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini) combined with rave reviews of their live shows and regular air time on BBC Radio 2 the band are clearly going places.
Ward Thomas play Limelight 2, Belfast on Friday 4th September. Tickets priced at £10.50 are onsale now from The Limelight and on Ticketmaster.
