Minnesota based singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Cameron has been active in live music for over thirty years. He began his performing career in the rich folk-rock scene of the early 1970s and brought this influence into several bands he founded during the 80s and 90s.
Now firmly focused on the blues he has just released the eclectic ‘Blues Factory’.
Sultry sax washes over ‘Drink on The Job’ as this spoken word Blues Noir spins a haunting tale of alcohol abuse by a security guard and a socialite unfolds. Sticking to the work theme, ‘Blues Factory’ is a solid blues based song. Flavoured with Sheri Cameron’s flute it is given a slight vibe of a 60’s pop song as it describes how the daily grind often takes over life with many people living to work instead of working to live. Clever use of percussion even lends a nod to John Henry’s Hammer. Cameron’s slide guitar is particularly ferocious on this track.
Throughout the record Cameron’s voice is strong and soulful while his lyrics mix authenticity with a touch of humour.
‘Friends like These’ is another humorous take on life and features some exceptional interplay between guitar and harmonica. As does the blues shuffle ‘The Wrong Thing’ which features some blistering slide guitar from Cameron.
Backed up by exceptional musicians and containing engaging well written songs, on ‘Blues Factory’ Mark Cameron delivers an album full of style, passion and empathy.
