In 1999 Kane became a permanent member of the legendary British R&B band Dr Feelgood. Now, after a career spanning over 50 years in music, Kane is stepping forward and releasing an album under his own name for the first time.

On the decision to release his first solo album Kane explains:

“I was sitting at home messing about on guitar one day and started playing a song I’d written years before. Thinking ‘well that’s not a bad song’ I then realised I’d never played it to anyone! So, I had a little moment there and I thought ‘Well, does a song actually exist if no one’s ever heard it’? That’s when I knew that some of these songs I’d had lying around for years needed to be recorded”.

Opening the album is the energetic ‘Halfway To Memphis’, a co-write with guitarist George Fearon who adds searing slide guitar across the track.  ‘Heart Attack Baby’ quickly follows and the lister is very quickly aware that ‘Blues is Blues’ is an album that delivers a raw sonic gut punch.

The boogie shuffle of ‘How Many Times’ allows Kane time to show off his powerful harmonica skills as he trades licks with Fearon’s guitar.  With the songs recorded in one or two takes in the studio the album illustrates the blues at it’s best.  Unpretentious, raw and honest with no frills. as Kane demonstrates on solo offering ‘Pour It On Me’.

‘Blues is Blues’ is a vibrant record rooted in authenticity that cuts straight to the emotional core of the music.
