Planned and recorded over three years, 'Love And Other Stories' is an album that has been well worth the wait.
More than just a singer-songwriter, Linzi Jane Morgan is a Midlands born artist, 2022 Courtyard Arts Creative Arts award winner, she writes songs, creates artworks, and works across mixed media.
‘Love & Other Stories’ takes her to another level of creativeness with magical songs and arrangements.
Opening the record, ‘Army of Angels’ is a slow tempo love song with an indie folk feel that’s drenched in beautiful harmonies. Alongside Morgan’s thoughtful lyrics, the orchestral work of Marion Fleetwood is spine chilling.
‘Your Smile’, continues the indie pop feel, once again with some stunning string arrangements that hint at the works of Kate Bush in the eighties.
Working alongside Marion Fleetwood (strings) and Paul Johnston (drums, Bass and mandolin) clearly works for Morgan and they bring out the best in her songs and arrangements. Johnston also co-produces the album.
Other highlights include ‘Lay Me Down’ a solemn eco friendly tribute to the beautiful planet that we seem so intent on destroying, The disturbing folk classic ‘Ballad of Mary Morgan’ and the defiant ‘Grace Under Pressure’.
Given the depth and maturity of the songs, musicianship and arrangements, ‘Love & Other Stories’ sounds like it has been released by an established artist that’s been around for years.
