Making their album debut with Morning Sun, husband and wife duo KP (Kirsten Proffit) and Johnny Hawthorn have created a sound that's drenched in West Coast warmth, enhanced by lap steel, catchy guitar hooks, strong melodies, and Fleetwood Mac style harmonies.

The opening guitar chimes of Shaking are reminiscent of both the Byrds and the Beatles. Yet, underneath the upbeat tempo and harmonies lies a song about a couple who never appear to be capable of getting their lives in sync. The slower tempo country-based Broken Wings details the breakdown of and escape from a controlling relationship.

Paying tribute to strong independent woman Rebel Road is a song dedicated to trailblazing women who have defied expectations thrust upon them in a male-dominated world.

As well issuing their own acclaimed solo material before embarking on their married musical journey together, both KP and Johnny were mainstays of the Los Angeles music scene, with collaborations and tours with bands like Calico, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Everclear.

With its melodic sensibilities and well-written songs, Morning Sun is a guitar-driven record that evokes imagery of sunshine and blue skies as it delivers its upbeat message of positivity.
