Award winning Blues guitarist Laurence Jones who has sold over 50,000 albums during his career releases his first full solo album, 'On My Own'.

‘On My Own’ marks a shift in sound for Jones as he swaps electric guitar for acoustic, accompanying himself on percussion, the album harks back to the early days of the blues when bluesmen used nothing more than guitar, stomp and their voice.

The Liverpool native has treaded the boards with some of the biggest names in music including Van Morrison, Jeff Beck and Ringo Starr.  In 2024 he opened shows for Status Quo on their farewell tour.

Tonally ‘On My Own’ is authentic, earthy and real.  There’s nothing over the top or flashy about Jones’s playing or the deeply personal songs that reflect his life dealing with Crohn’s disease.

His refusal to give in to his illness is reflected in the positivity of ‘Get Back Up’.  The sweeping slide guitar and pounding stomp underpin his empowering lyrics make this an instant earworm that stick with the listener.  With it’s traditional blues riff turned up to eleven, ‘Ain’t Coming Back No More’ is a fun song that shows that Jones is done with negativity, in his life.

Throughout the album Jones’s playing is superb as he effortless mixes energetic slide guitar with catchy hooks and rhythms and his vocal fits the stripped back sound perfectly.

Other highlights on the record include the slide drenched ‘Life I Made’, the hypnotic ‘I Gave My Life To You’ and the Americana tinged anthemic ‘Beautiful’.

‘On My Own’ is a tight album with no fillers, just honest and authentic music by an artist who’s defeated personal challenges to deliver one hell of an album.
