Recognised for his ability to reinvigorate the blues with his debut release 'City Soul', Russ Green continues to deliver with 'Stone Cold'.

Following a career in the military, Green was inspired by Jimi Hendrix to pick up the guitar before ultimately transitioning to the harmonica, an instrument he quickly mastered. He refined his skills in local clubs under the mentorship of harmonica legend Sugar Blue while simultaneously working in film production. His debut album, ‘City Soul’, earned widespread critical acclaim.

His latest release, ‘Stone Cold’, bursts with infectious energy right from the opening note. On ‘Lint Redux’, Green’s soaring vocals and harmonica seamlessly intertwine with the searing slide guitar of Giles Corey. The title track, ‘Stone Cold’, is a traditional blues anthem where Green laments a partner’s unreturned love, elevated by the fiery organ play of Joe Munro. Other standout tracks include the foot-stomping rhythm of ‘Troubled World’, the deeply emotional ‘I Believe’, and the high-energy, bombastic flair of ‘Boogie Joint’.

The album’s powerful sonic foundation is anchored by drummer Felix “D’kat” Pollard and bassist Vic Jackson, who provide a driving, robust backbone for Green’s song writing. Green took the reins on production himself, keeping the project rooted in the local community by recording and mixing the tracks in Chicago with engineer Rick Barnes.

Ultimately, ‘Stone Cold’ respects the deep traditions of the past while delivering a thrilling, modern take on contemporary blues.
