‘Tarot Cards & Shooting Stars’ is the second album by KP and Johnny Hawthorn AKA The HawtThorns. Following on from their smash debut, ‘Morning Sun’, the album features an abundance of harmonic guitar-driven songs.
From the bombastic drum intro of ‘All The Right Reasons’, the listener is transported on a journey through catchy guitar hooks and memorable melodies. Featuring nine original compositions and one Neil Young cover, the album swings with the duo’s mistakable harmonic groove.
Gentle country rockers such as ‘On The Way’, ‘Keep It Alive’, and ‘This One Is Ours’ stand out as songs imbued with light and positivity while the gentler side of The HawtThorns music is embraced by the ballads ‘Let’s Get Together’ and ‘It’s A Gift’. A cover of Neil Young’s ‘Lotta Love’ lends more to the sound mid-70s Fleetwood Mac than the original.
Once again proving themselves high-class purveyors of melodic country-rock influenced by the sounds of Nashville, The Allman Brothers Band, and Fleetwood Mac. The HawtThorns have curated another fine upbeat record with ‘Tarot Cards & Shooting Stars’.
