With 2022 drawing to a close and the festive season upon us the writing team at Folk and Tumble get to look back at the year in music, and pick the albums that we enjoyed spinning on the Folk and Tumble turntable.
With the music industry finally in recovery from Covid 19 induced lockdowns 2022 was a good year for new music, and we even managed to catch a few live shows as well. We are constantly aware that we are very fortunate to be entrusted with an artist’s work ahead of fans and the public in general. Often that artist has spent months or years writing songs and music followed by costly studio time, not to mention promotional costs as well.
With that in mind we always treat our review submissions with respect and try to give as much support as possible to those artists. So, in no particular order. the team have picked their favourites to feature on our ‘Best of 2022’ playlist.
This year our playlist is based on the following reviews: Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse, Carolyne Mas, Buddy Guy, Bonfire Radicals, John Nemeth, The Hooten Hallers, Mike Ross, Mama’s Broke, Matt Pierce & The Mutiny, Matt Andersen, The Love Light Orchestra, Police Dog Hogan, Steve Pledger, John Fullbright, Dave Arcari, Oxlip, Siskin Quartet, Courtney Marie Andrews, Sue Harding, Tamsin Elliot, Bella Hardy, Gerry Beckley, Anna Tam, Oxlip, The Bros. Landreth, Bonnie Raitt, Anthony Toner, Rory Nellis, Martin Stephenson, Janis Ian, The Delines, Anais Mitchell, Peter Veteska, Elvis Costello
We had a good time listening and writing about the bands and music we enjoyed this year and we hope you did too. We’d like to thank all the bands, artists and PR companies who’ve worked with us this year and our readers, without you all there would be no Folk and Tumble.
