Since their formation in 2011, the duo has carved out a distinct place within the UK acoustic music scene, using evocative storytelling and masterful musicianship to craft a sound that is as intimate as it is expansive. Comprised of Abbe Wood and Hannah Walker, Sound of the Sirens have long been celebrated for their harmonious blend of folk, pop, and acoustic influences.

Throughout their career, Sound of the Sirens have explored themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery. However, ‘The Other Me’ takes a significant step forward, delving even deeper into the nuances of personal transformation.

Album opener, ‘Who You Are’ is stunning a cappella song, with basic handclap percussion that allows the stunning vocal prowess of Wood and Walker to soar on a song that deals with the pressure of aging that society unfairly places on women in particular. Subtle piano and underpins ‘Infinite Kindness’, a song that deals with the highs and lows of becoming a parent.

The song crafting on ‘The Other Me’, shows a level of maturity and empathy that is astonishing to behold.  The raw and honest emotional impact of ‘The Part Where You’re Gone’ will resonate with anyone who has lost a loved one, while ‘Coming Back’ explores finding oneself again after a process of change and renewal.

With Wood and Walker handling vocals, acoustic guitars and keyboards, the duo are joined on the album by Dave Draper providing additional electric guitar and drums.  The beauty of the music that they produce together is deceptively simple and wonderfully arranged to allow for the songs to carry though their message of transition love, loss and hope.

Masterful song writing and exquisite harmonies make ‘The Other Me’ a thing of sheer beauty.
