Summer of Love – Waxahatchee

After recently attending a Waxahatchee show in Belfast I have added Katie Crutchfields brand of dreamy indie rock to my expanding list of female favourites.

Recently we’ve been enjoying a whole host of female artists here at Folk and Tumble, from the discovery of Natalie Prass at a Ryan Adams show earlier in the year to our recent Colleen Brown album exclusive and reviews of Jenny Lysander and Mandy Bingham to name a few.

To add to my recent all-female playlist, I had the pleasure of attending the Waxahatchee show in McHugh’s Basement, Belfast on 14th June. If you don’t know, Waxahatchee is an indie rock project of American singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield who is joined live by a band which includes her twin sister Allison, a third guitar, bass and drums.

Once the full band set was finished and the stage was cleared, Katie returned for a few more solo songs. Our choice for Song of the Day today is one of those songs ‘Summer of Love’ a beautiful, airy ballad.

Waxahatchee’s third album ‘Ivy Tripp’ was released 7th April 2015.
