Villagers with spend most of early 2016 on the road across the UK and Ireland starting with an intimate show on 26th January 2016 in The Mac Theatre in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter as part of the 2016 Out to Lunch Festival.
The sparse décor, stripped back minimalism and stunning acoustics of The Mac in Belfast provide an ideal arena for Villagers with Conor O’Brien’s fourth album promising to be a more pared back effort, bringing the delicate intimacy of last year’s tour to your record player. Recorded live in one day at London’s RAK Studios, ‘Where Have You Been All My Life’ will take the feel of the 2015 tour and commit it to record including the reworking of many of the band’s better known hits.
Featuring a reworking of ‘Memoir’, written for Charlotte Gainsbourg and a cover of O’Brien’s all-time favourite song – Jimmy Webb’s ‘Wichita Lineman’ – it looks set to be a popular release amongst fans of the live show and ‘Darling Arithmetic’ and should provide the perfect counterfoil to ‘Becoming A Jackal’ and ‘{Awayland}’.
On record and in the live theatre, you can expect some mellotron, flugelhorn, synths, harps and those trademark harmonies. You can also expect this Belfast show to sell out quickly. Tickets are on sale now from Cathedral Quarter Art’s Festival dedicated Out To Lunch Festival site.
