Over the summer at Blissfields we met up with the indomitable Grant Sharkey, a Hampshire based songwriter with a disdain for the corporate, the ridiculous and ‘the man’. Sharkey himself, armed with double bass and a sharp turn of phrase is a man on a mission; that quest is to write and record an album every six months for twenty years. That’ll be forty records in total and we’re hearing on the grapevine that number four out of forty is well underway.
Entitled ‘4/40 – URSS’, the final recordings will be laid down in a small studio in Andover on 4th and 5th October and with the world plunging ever deeper into moral decline, it’ll be interesting to hear who’s on the receiving end of Sharkey’s furious folk-pop wrath.
