Gentry Morris’ Farewell Show

As Belfast bids farewell to her adopted American son, Gentry Morris leaves us with 'Runaway' the new single from the upcoming 'The Next Great Ghost Town'.

I’ve been a big fan of Gentry Morris for longer than I’ve been writing up words on websites. OK, I don’t have one of those moments where I remember where I was or who I was with when I first heard him but over the years there have been many great tunes, enjoyable shows and a few pints of Guinness.

I think ‘The Box’ was probably one of the earliest tracks I can recall. I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Awake O’Sleeper’ and judging by the teaser track from the new record, the standards have far from slipped. ‘Runaway’ is the lead single from ‘The Next Great Ghost Town’ and is available over on his website with the album due to follow in the upcoming weeks. Both musically and lyrically, this track sees Morris tap into his inner Springsteen and it’s a fitting road tune and summer single to leave us with as he pulls out of here to win.

Gentry Morris has been based in Northern Ireland for a few years although the easy going attitude and straight up Americana sounds have always harked back to his roots in South Georgia, USA. Like all good things that aren’t quite ready to come to an end, they move on, they develop, they grow and Gentry’s journey sees him Stateside-bound once again. There’ll be a farewell show in The Black Box on Saturday 24th May so come down, raise a glass and pick up a copy of the brand new album.
