If you can make your way to Kilkenny in a fortnight you really should – the Kilkenny Roots Festival is taking place and that’s a treat that you don’t want to miss.
The festival takes over Kilkenny’s cobbled streets and bars for the weekend and the some of the city’s finest theatres and venues will host the music of John Grant, Phosphorescent, Mama Rosin, The Lost Brothers and a whole ton more.
The festival’s Gig Trail also features about 60 gigs in bars around the city where you can catch some excellent Irish and European bands completely free.
In a country that’s crammed with festivals every year Kilkenny Roots fest stands out as one of Ireland’s finest and showcases bluegrass, Americana, folk, blues, country, Celtic and all of that good stuff.
