Tonight marks the inaugural Grass Roots Music UK show in the 229 Club, London. Grass Roots Music UK is an alliance of British artists taking advantage of the current interest in the folk and country genres to raise the profile of artists in the industry and take the music direct to the fans with plans for a UK and some American dates to hopefully be added.
This evening’s lineup includes Balsamo Deighton, Red Sky July, Raintown, Lucy-May and Frankie Davies and tickets are available here.

The original idea was to look at a tour akin to old Motown or Stiff tours where we get several acts together on the road so instead of playing to only a few people, they can draw a far bigger crowd with support from local media. I dare not call it a movement but there is something going on here and we believe we should make the most of it, let’s hope this is the start of something that will grow and grow.
