Some call Nashville the country music capital of the world. Others in the know call it the twin city of Belfast in Northern Ireland. Right now it’s a little bit of both and is about to play host to the talented singer songwriter Amanda St John.
OK, so Amanda is from the Glens of Antrim, which isn’t quite Belfast but this trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone so invested in making it as a writer and performer. Normally known for soul and blues renditions, Amanda will be working alongside renowned producer Charles Yingling, who’s latest work was alongside Willie Nelson as well as songwriter Benita Hill who has penned tracks for the likes of Garth Brooks.
In advance of the trip, we at Folk and Tumble, have grabbed a chance to introduce you to Amanda St John and preview her upcoming single ‘If I Should Fall’, which will be available from 22nd September 2014. It’s described by the author as a “tear stained ballad” and harks back to the old days when the likes of Odetta or Ella Fitzgerald boomed out powerful blues to overcome the emotional frailties.
