Kenny Rogers adds Belfast to farewell tour

Country music legend Kenny Rogers, best known for the gambler proves he knows when to fold 'em as he retires from touring after almost 60 years on the road.

The man who gave the world some of the best-known hits in country music is calling time on touring. Aged 77,Kenny Rogers has announced that his current world tour will be his last and that concerts in London, Dublin and Belfast will be included in the string of hit-packed dates.

After five decades on the road, the man who recorded ‘The Gambler’‘Coward Of The County’‘Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town’, and the hugely popular ‘Islands In The Stream’with Dolly Parton announced that he is stepping down from touring commitments to spend more time with his wife Wanda and their two young sons. In an interview last year he said:

In my book I wrote, ‘There’s a fine line between being selfish and being driven,’ and I think I crossed that line a lot when I was younger,” Rogers said. “And I didn’t get a chance to spend a lot of time with my older boys and I regret that now.

The tour, known as ‘The Gambler’s Last Deal’, will feature hit from Rogers’ almost 60-year career in the business and includes special guests Charlie Worsham and Linda Davis. Kenny Rogers is no stranger to a huge, well-hyped arena-filling tour, being one of the first country artists to consistently sell out arenas, playing to millions of loyal fans around the globe.

With a back catalogue including 24 number one singles including ‘Lucille‘, ‘Daytime Friends‘ and ‘We’ve Got Tonight‘, Rogers has sold upwards of 120 million copies of the more than sixty albums he recorded over his career putting him in the top ten highest selling male solo artists of all time according to the RIAA.

Kenny Rogers’ farewell tour ‘The Gambler’s Last Deal’ comes to the 3 Arena, Dublin on 7th November, the SSE Arena, Belfast on 8th November with shows in London on the 10th and 12th. After that the cards will be laid upon the table and the dealing is done.
