This week sees the release of a brand new record from singer-songwriter Grace Griffith. Called ‘Passing Through’, it’s a real feat not only in terms of songwriting and musicianship but in the fact that Grace has Parkinson’s Disease and requires full-time care. The recording of ‘Passing Through’ has been a real labour of love and sees Grace return to the studio for the first time in eight years.
Grace’s album is so good it almost brought me to tears.
Emmylou Harris
When Emmylou Harris is digging your record, there’s not much any writer or critic can add but the results of the two year recording process are a poignant and haunting collection of Celtic folk songs and ballads. Indeed the Emmylou Harris penned ‘Cup of Kindness’ provides one of the standout moments amidst the traditional and contemporary stories woven through the album.
Music has always been a focal point in my life. I get pleasure and peace from music. Since Parkinson’s Disease has come to live with me, music has become more important than ever.
Grace Griffith
Having battled Parkinson’s Disease for almost two decades, ‘Passing Through’ is a triumph for Grace Griffith who has also been hugely active in groups such as American Parkinson Disease Association and Parkinson’s Action Network. ‘Passing Through’ is available now in record stores and online retailers.
