While he’s certainly most famous as the multi-instrumentalist and founding member of Canadian supergroup Arcade Fire, Richard Reed Parry is no stranger to a side project or two.
Recent years have seen him contribute to the works of Bell Orcestre, collaborate with Dallas Good of The Sadies and work on the critically acclaimed ‘High Violet’ record from The National.
In a musical journey that’s been through many twists and turns we now find ourselves taking a somewhat more gentle stroll with Parry. His latest work, entitled, ‘Quiet River Of Dust’ is much more wide open, sand-strewn midwest than the mountainous Canadian Rockies we’ve become used to. Debuting at All Tomorrow’s Parties in December last year, the trio features Parry alongside Laurel Sprengelmeyer (Little Scream) and Stefan Schneider (Bell Orchestre). With only a handful of shows under their belt, Parry has come forth with his thoughts on the project.
“It is a group of songs, really, by that name, and it is also the name of us playing them, I guess. It’s a band, but it’s really a band that only exists to play this particular handful of songs called Quiet River of Dust.”
There are no immediate plans for a release but with eight songs ready to go and reportedly another three in the pipeline, an album may not be out of the question by the end of the year. If you can’t wait that long to hear Parry in action Arcade Fire will release their fourth LP on 29th October.
