In recent years, Sunflowerfest out on Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough has billed itself as “Northern Ireland’s leading festival for everyone”. We’ve been kicking back in the fields for a few summers and have to agree that the wealth of diverse acts and activities rivals even many of the bigger festivals around the UK and Ireland.
This year it seems the festival may have gone a little tongue in cheek with full on embracing of the arts cuts that have devastated the once thriving Northern Irish cultural community as they take us back to the bygone days of the Victorian Steampunk era.
As well as a stellar musical lineup featuring headliners Dreadzone and Senser, there’ll be a full-on Steampunk version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in The Enchanted Glade. It’ll be produced entirely in Belfast vernacular! (So it will…)
This year will be as family friendly as always with plenty of activities for young and old alike including the infamous “Shack Attack” from Habitat for Humanity NI, who are this year’s chosen festival charity.
Sunflowerfest 2015 takes place from 31st July – 2nd August on Tubby’s Farm in Hillsborough, Co. Down, which is only a twenty minute drive from Belfast City Centre.
