The Ulster Orchestra have announced details of their special St. Patrick’s weekend concert in the Belfast Waterfront. The highly-anticipated event takes place on Saturday 16th March 2019 at 7.45pm.
Joining the orchestra on the evening will be the internationally renowned Beoga and Iarla Ó Lionáird of The Gloaming. The concert is the second in the latest ‘Pops’ series from the Ulster Orchestra and will see the musicians join together for a set of traditional favourites.
Iarla Ó Lionáird and The Gloaming have just sold out a seven-night run in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. When not fronting the Irish-American band, Ó Lionáird is known for movie soundtracks and working alongside legends such as Nick Cave and Robert Plant.
Beoga meanwhile have brought the sounds of traditional Irish music to a new generation due to their work with Ed Sheeran including headlining Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and an appearance on Top of the Pops.
They describe themselves as “four Nordy lads and a Limerick lass beating out the new wave trad”. A performance with the Ulster Orchestra will certainly be a special way to round off St. Patrick’s weekend in style.
Tickets for the “I love Irish Music” show are available from the Ulster Orchestra or by calling +4428 9033 4455.
