Who is Bear’s Den?
Bear’s Den is a British alternative-folk trio but this is less about Bear’s Den and more about James Marcus Haney and the stars of the video for ‘Elysium’. Haney had travelled to Seattle to make an accompanying video for the song but also to document his brother’s last days at college; those happy carefree days when life just unfurls before you. Shortly after arriving in Seattle, there was a fatal campus shooting and Haney’s brother’s dorm mate was one of the victims. In memory of Paul Lee, his fellow students decided to complete the video. The results speak for themselves. These are not actors. They’re real people. Real friends. Real emotions.
Sometimes, in the process of capturing the moments we capture something greater. We grab hold of life in a lens.
