Closed Hand Full of Friends – Foy Vance

Bangor born Foy Vance returns to his hometown next week for two sell-out shows in the abbey. Foy always puts on a great live show like this one for Bushmills.

Who is Foy Vance?

Foy Vance is one of Northern Ireland’s best known contemporary songwriters and performers as evidenced by the speed at which his two shows in Bangor Abbey next week sold out. Even Folk and Tumble didn’t manage to get one of those little slices of fried gold. We will, however, catch up with Foy at Victorious Festival this weekend and for anyone unlucky enough to miss out on his electric live shows, here’s a look at what you’ll be missing with ‘Closed Hand Full Of Friends’ live from Bushmills Distillery.

I want to hear more.

‘Hope’ was the first album released by Foy Vance back in 2007 and was a fan favourite for many years until the 2013 release of ‘Joy of Nothing’, which features duets with Bonnie Riatt and Ed Sheeran. If that’s not enough, have a look through your old VHS collection from 1994 and see if you managed to tape Foy’s performance as Andrew Strong from The Commitments on ITV’s ‘Stars in their Eyes’.
