Who is Nina Persson?
Nina Persson is the enigmatic Swedish indie pop songwriter and vocalist behind acts such as The Cardigans and A Camp and 2014 sees her release her first solo work under her own name with the stunning ‘Animal Heart’. It continues in a similar vein to Persson’s earlier works with vocals and songwriting which owe more to the first ladies of country than to her contemporary pop stars.
I want to hear more.
It’s been a while since we at Folk and Tumble delved into The Cardigans back catalogue and there’s no better place to start than the ‘Best Of’ record which obviously features the massive 1990s singles ‘My Favourite Game’ and ‘Lovefool’ from Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ but several other beautifully written pop classics of the era. For solo work it’s worth checking out the ‘A Camp’ album, which is Nina Persson’s first foray into solo work after collaborations with the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Sparklehorse.
