1975 – Rae and Christian

Mark and Steve are Rae and Christian; returning with their first album in over ten years and this first sample suggests it might just be worth the wait.

‘1975’ is a slick track taking the basics of 1970s folk and throwing in an R’n’B beat and synth melodies with great guest work from Diagrams. The track is the first we’ve heard from the eagerly awaited Rae and Christian album ‘Mercury Rising’.

Set to hit the airwaves in October, ‘Mercury Rising’ is the third studio album to be released by Rae & Christian. Mostly it’s been created at producer/musician Steve Christian’s studio in Yorkshire with additional recording at songwriter/vocalist/DJ Mark Rae’s London base.

We wanted to make British songs so spent time exploring the early 70’s folk scene and lent heavily on local UK talent for the guest vocalists. The song writing is varied with a broad base of subjects ranging from female Russian snipers, monkeys who attack, commuting and redemption.
