Save Christmas Day For Me – Red Sky July

Britpop goes country with beautiful results. This festive offering from Red Sky July is hopefully a sign of things to come on their upcoming third record.

Somehow the bands I listened to twenty years ago have grown up to sound like the bands my parents listened to forty years ago. Now, I’m older and wiser and like a bit of Americana so this is no bad thing. Case in point here is Red Sky July, fronted by husband and wife duo Ally McErlaine (Texas) and Shelly Poole (Alisha’s Attic).

Along with band mate Charity Hair, they’ve teamed up with Beth Nielsen Chapman for this luscious country Christmas record ‘Save Christmas Day For Me’. It’s all guitar twang and effortless country cool with just the right amount of seasonal cliché. We look forward to more of the same with the release of their third full-length record next year.
