To mark American Independence Day, we thought it might be fun to trawl those fifty states to find some tunes. The music of America has always drawn on global influences brought into the nation from Europe, Africa, and beyond.
While these tracks may not be what you might call Americana, country, folk, or even be labelled with any genre; we consider them some of the best state mentioning tunes out there.
We’ve tried to steer clear of the obvious choices, included some fine female voices and a few Irish artists yet to break the big time in the US. We hope you enjoy these picks as much as we have been.
